purchased an on-line international flight from OneTravel.com for $1300, with Alitalia Airline for travel from Toronto, Canada to Tehran, Iran at the end of February 2011 with a return date set for mid April 2011.

About three weeks prior to my booked return date, I called OneTravel.com customer service by phone from Tehran and asked them if they could re-schedule my return ticket for any available date in mid May 2011… I was surprised and shocked when they told me that they will do that for me ONLY IF I pay them $250 in penalties plus an additional $650 for a change in the price of the ticket… Wow!

Well . . . that was almost the price of a whole new ticket . . . which of course, I declined.

So, I called the Italian airline (Alitalia) directly . . . an Alitalia agent told me that “Yes” they would be glade to reschedule my return ticket to the next available flight of the same class for FREE because I was actually entitled to one change, free of any charges!

In fact, later I found out that this is a universal rule among all air liners, as long as the site is available and the flight is of the same class.

So travelers be aware of highway robbery that is happening in the industry …in my case by OneTravel.com as they have actually tried to rub me $900 of my hard earned money for a service that I was entitled to free of any charges!

If this is not a highway robbery …then what is it? You be the judge of that!
